Qualcomm promotes head of engineering to CTO

Qualcomm is replacing its CTO. James H. Thompson, currently executive vice president of engineering at Qualcomm Technologies, is taking on the additional title of CTO, replacing Matt Grob. Grob, who served as CTO for nearly six years, will continue as executive vice president of technology at Qualcomm Technologies, reporting still to CEO Steve Mollenkopf. In addition to leading QCT engineering, as CTO, Thompson will align the companywide technical and product roadmaps across all business areas.
