Qualcomm quarterly revenues soar 39% to USD 4.1 bln
Qualcomm report revenues for the fiscal fourth quarter to September of USD 4.12 billion, up 39 percent year-over-year and 14 percent sequentially amid continued strong demand for its chips in smartphones. The company's operating profit rose 29 percent from a year ago to USD 1.24 billion, net profit was up 22 percent to USD 1.06 billion, and EPS improved 17 percent to USD 0.62. Qualcomm shipped 127 million units of its CDMA-based Mobile Station Modems, 14 percent more than in the year-earlier period and 6 percent more than in the previous quarter. Shipments for the company's full fiscal year were up 21 percent to 483 million units. After quarterly cash flow of USD 1.82 billion, Qualcomm finished the year with USD 20.9 billion in cash. For the fiscal first quarter, the company forecast revenues up 30-42 percent from a year ago to USD 4.35-4.75 billion, while MSM shipments should increase 24-31 percent to 146-154 million. EPS is estimated at USD 0.70-0.76, versus 0.71 a year earlier. For the full year to September 2012, Qualcomm forecast revenues 20-27 percent higher at USD 18-19 billion, and EPS up 11-19 percent at USD 2.80-3.00.
