Quam files claim for UMTS licence tax rebate
Defunct mobile operator Quam has filed a claim against the German govt for repayment of tax paid for its UMTS licence, reports Handelsblatt. The claim was filed before the Financial Court in Cologne at end-December 2004, with Quam seeking repayment of EUR 1.2 billion VAT paid on its licence. The UMTS licences were auctioned off in summer 2000. Mobilcom is following with a similar claim against the German govternment.
