Qwest president and COO resigns
Qwest Communications's President and Chief Operating Officer Afshin Mohebbi will step down on December 31, 2002, because he wants to spend more time with his family and to pursue other business opportunities. Qwest is not going to fill the vacated posts. On November 14, 2002, the company announced the resignation on December 8 of Drake S. Tempest, general counsel since 1998. Nacchio and Mohebbi, among others, were questioned by a congressional panel regarding questionable accounting and phony revenues booked during Nacchio's tenure.
