Reggefiber applies for new loan from EIB

Dutch operator Reggefiber has applied for a second loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The EIB confirmed it's considering a EUR 140 million loan to Reggefiber. The financing will support the roll out of fibre-optic networks in 35 smaller Dutch cities, mainly in 2012 and 2013. The EIB is limited under its statutes to providing 50 percent of a financing package. Reggefiber is hoping to raise in total EUR 280 million, with the remainder coming from commercial banks if the EIB deal is approved. The Dutch operator already borrowed EUR 285 million in a package agreed with the EIB and commercial banks in November 2010. Reggefiber noted that the previous application took around a year for EIB approval. This would mean access to the new loan sometime in early 2013, although Reggefiber said it's hoping to get the green light earlier.
