Regulator delays decision on TelstraClear takeover
New Zealand's Commerce Commission has delayed a decision on Vodafone's takeover of TelstraClear. The regulator now plans to issue a ruling on 23 October, the BusinessDay writes. In July, Vodafone announced it planned to buy TelstraClear from Australian carrier Telstra for NZD 840 million. The Commerce Commission was originally scheduled to issue a decision on the approval for the acquisition on 7 September.

New Zealand's Commerce Commission has again delayed its ruling on Vodafone's application to acquire TelstraClear. Initially, the regulator had planned to decide on 7 September but pushed this back to 23 October. The Commerce Commission now says it will decide on 30 October, BusinessDay reports. New Zealand's Commerce Commission has received an application from Vodafone New Zealand seeking clearance to acquire TelstraClear. Under the terms of the proposed acquisition, Vodafone will acquire 100 percent of the shares and/or assets of TelstraClear from Telstra. Deal between Vodafone, Telstra close - report

A purchase deal between Vodafone New Zealand and Telstra is about to be struck with the price for TelstraClear said to be around NZD 450 to 500 million, BusinessDay reports citing unnamed sources. Earlier this month, TelstraClear parent Telstra confirmed it was approached by Vodafone and that the companies were in talks to explore the potential sale of TelstraClear. A deal could be announced as early as next month, sources told the paper.
