Reliance to split GSM, CDMA operations - report
Indian telecommunications provider Reliance Communications is restructuring again. The company is separating its growing GSM business from the sluggish CDMA business, the Economic Times writes citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation. Nilanjan Mukherjee, currently the chief marketing officer, will lead the CDMA business while Ramesh Menon will join the company to head the GSM business. Reliance Communications may look to sell the CDMA operation.

RCom names Sawhny as CEO

Indian operator Reliance Communications (RCom) has appointed Vinod Sawhny as chief executive. Sawhny comes from Bharti Airtel, where he was head of the rival operator's retail operations. RCom also expanded the role of CEO Wirelesss, Gurdeep Singh to CEO Consumer Business, comprising wireless, DTH, and consumer broadband. Punit Garg will continue as CEO of the Indian enterprise and IDC business, and Bill Barney is the CEO of Reliance Globalcom.

RCom's Q3 profit grows 2.7%

Indian operator Reliance Communications (RCom) reported a net profit of INR 1.08 billion for the third quarter ended 31 December 2013, up 2.7 percent from INR 1.05 billion in the year-ago period. Indian operator Reliance Communications ended December 2013 with 118.48 million CDMA customers, down from 119.10 million in November. Indian mobile operator Reliance Communications has introduced a new prepaid package in Tamil Nadu.
