Businessmen Ricardo Fernandez has acquired Venezuelan mobile operator Digitel from Oswaldo Cisneros. The transaction is valued at USD 800 million, local newspaper Codigo Venezuela reports, citing sources close to the deal. Digitel currently owns a 19.9 percent mobile market share in Venezuela. Fernandez mainly operates in the food production and distribution business. He also recently entered the financial market, having acquired several Venezuelan banks, including BanPro, Bolivar, Confederado and Canarias Bank.
