RIM investor calls for sale of company
Research In Motion is facing a new call from shareholders to change its strategy. Jaguar Financial, a Canadian shareholder in RIM, called for the company's board to start a strategic review, aimed at maximizing shareholder value. This should include studying a potential sale of the company or a monetization of the RIM patent portfolio by a spin-out to RIM shareholders, Jaguar said. The investor said change is needed at RIM to prevent any further loss of value. RIM's share price has already fallen from CAD 149.90 in June 2008 to CAD 29.59 in September 2011. Jaguar said RIM was losing the race for innovative products, resulting in lower market share, and also needed to change its management structure and work harder to retain key management.
