RIM's losses swell, sees further delay for BlackBerry 10

Friday 29 June 2012 | 08:57 CET | News
Research In Motion reported a net loss of USD 518 million or USD 0.99 per share for its fiscal first quarter ended 02 June, versus a profit of USD 695 million or USD 1.33 per share a year earlier. The BlackBerry maker's revenues fell 43 percent from a year ago to USD 2.8 billion, and it shipped 7.8 million phones and 260,000 tablets in the three months. That's down from 11.1 million phones and over 500,000 tablets in the previous quarter to end-February. The company also announced its long-awaited new OS, BlackBerry 10, is delayed until Q1 2013, from a previous launch date of late this year.
