Roku targets pay-TV providers with new licensing programme
Roku announced a new programme to license its technology to TV providers outside the US. Called Roku Powered, the programme will help operators deliver new video services to customers based on the Roku streaming technology. The licence can include Roku software, hardware integration and a selection of content. The UK's BSkyB is one of the first to use the Roku technology, with its Now TV box launched last year. Roku will present the new offering at IBC in Amsterdam.

Roku raises USD 25 mln in latest funding round

Roku raised USD 25 million during its latest funding round, Venturebeat reported, citing an SEC filing. The company raised USD 60 million in the previous funding round, and said it would use the money to build new partnerships and continue growing its consumer market share for set-top boxes. Roku confirmed that it had recently closed a funding series which provided more growth capital.

BSkyB invests another USD 700,000 in Roku

UK pay TV operator BSkyB has made another USD 700,000 equity investment in OTT TV platform Roku. The move follows Sky's USD 12.2 million investments in Roku in 2012 and 2013, and will be used to finance Roku's operations and activities. BskyB said that its 39 percent owner,21st Century Fox, had also made a further equity investment in Roku, but did not disclose the amount.

Roku hits milestone of 10 mln streaming players sold

Streaming media player Roku announced it has sold 10 million of its players in the US to date. The company shipped its first device just over six years ago and now offers over 1,800 channels for streaming to the TV. Roku, the maker of a connected TV box, is weighing an initial public offering in the US this year, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. A decision to move ahead hasn't been made yet, and the California-based company hasn't selected a lead banker. Roku receives USD 60 mln funding

Streaming platform provider Roku has received a USD 60 million investment led by institutional investors. Two new Roku investors participated in the series F round including the institutional investor and Hearst. They join prior Roku investors, including British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) and News Corporation in the series F round. The investment will fuel Roku's growth which has accelerated in the last year.
