Rostelecom considers sale of Armenia subsidiary

Russian national operator Rostelecom is considering a sale of its Armenia-based subsidiary GNC-Alfa, providing services under the Rostelecom Armenia brand, reports Tass citing Mikhail Oseevskiy, the CEO of Rostelecom. He told a parliamentary committee hearing the company was always seeking a buyer, but only one interested purchaser had come forward, for a price of around USD 25 million.

GNC-Alfa works under the Rostelecom brand since 2012, providing broadband, fixed telephony and TV services. Its fibre-optic network exceeds 3,000 km, covering 80 percent of the country’s area.

The estimated size of the deal is USD 25 million.

Russian national operator Rostelecom has connected more than 30,000 households to its GPON network at 85 sites in the Voronezh region this year. The operator has deployed 70 LTE base stations in villages of the Krasnodar region and 33 base stations in villages of the Volgograd region.

The company Armenian Power Networks, controlled by the Tashir Group, is the planned buyer. The group is owned by Samvel Karapetyan, an Armenian businessman.

Armenian operators pay more in taxes in first nine months year on year

Armenian operator paid more than AMD 27.1 billion in taxes to the state budget in January-September of this year, reports Arka.am citing a statement from the Committee of State Incomes. VivaCell-MTS was in the seventh position among major tax payers and paid more than AMD 13 billion. Ucom was in thirteenth position and paid more than AMD 8.6 billion. The figure for Telecom Armenia was AMD 4.1 billion and the company can 31st.

Armenian operator GNC-Alfa, a subsidiary of Russian national operator Rostelecom, has opened its new service centre and retail outlet in the city of Gyumri. A broad spectrum of services from the operator will be available there.
