Rostelecom, Kazakhtelecom open Inter-AS VPN
Russian national operator Rostelecom and Kazakhtelecom establish a junction of their VPN networks, built on mutually independent networks of both companies (Inter Autonomous System, Inter-AS). The Inter-AS VPN was opened in the city of Elista and has bandwidth of 155 Mbps. The total capacity of the main channel for internet connection at the Kazakh operator is more than 7 Gbps. The total capacity of the access site for Rostelecom in Elista, created using the latest packet switch equipment and entered into operation early this year, is 21 Gbps. The project allows both companies to create VPN networks for their clients, simultaneously covering facilities in Russia and Kazakhstan. The presence of the joint Inter-AS VPN keeps all the advantages of a VPN network, including the possibility of realization of any topology, ensuring a high level of security for communication of information, support, QoS, etc. Rostelecom traditionally provides VPN services for major Russian and foreign companies, as well as Russian state authorities at all levels.
