Salt offers Gigabox wireless alternative for Home tariffs to over 2 mln households

Swiss operator Salt said it is offering the new wireless Gigabox as an extension of its Home tariff. Gigabox combines outdoor 4G and 5G antennas with a new generation router with Wi-Fi 6 technology. The Gigabox provides internet, TV and Apple TV 4K for CHF 39.95 per month to Salt Mobile customers, or CHF 49.95 for non-customers. User can obtain download speeds of up to 1 Gbps over the 5G mobile network and up to 400 Mbps over the 4G+ network.

So far, Salt Home has been available via FTTH in more than 200 municipalities throughout the country, including major cities like Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne, Basel and Bern, with a potential reach of one third of Swiss households. With Gigabox, Salt Home's reach has been extended to more than 50 percent of Swiss households or more 2 million households in Switzerland.

Salt introduces Salt Max Abo tariff range

The Start Max tariff offers unlimited calls and SMS in Switzerland and 40 GB of data to use with 5G for CHF 14.35 monthly instead of CHF 39.95 per month on a 24-month contract. A twelve-months contract is priced at CHF 39.95 per month.

Salt lifts revenues on higher subscriber numbers in Q4, shelves plans for IPO

Swiss operator Salt has recorded a 5.4 percent increase in operating revenues year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2021 to CHF 242.8 million, driven by a positive trend in terms of subscribers. Equipment revenues fell by 7.5 percent during the same period to CHF 29.6 million. Adjusted EBITDA went up by 7.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021 to CHF 108 million.

Salt introduces new Fiber Box supporting Wi-Fi 6

Swiss operator Salt said it is offering the new, certified Fiber Box X6 supporting Wi-Fi 6 standards. It enables customers to surf the web at gigabit speeds on several different home devices. The Wi-Fi box is available in a compact size in black and is manufactured from recycled plastic. Salt is also introducing a new Wi-Fi mesh extender product, which is available to customers in its shops.

Swisscom has increased its 5G availability from 49.2 percent in H2 2020 to 66.0 percent today. Swiss operator Salt has introduced a new portfolio of products for business customers under the title Salt Mobile PRO, targeting small firms in particular. The new portfolio is split into five plans. Swiss consumer associations ask Salt to review roaming tariffs

The Swiss alliance of consumer protection organizations, which includes the Foundation for Consumer Protection, FRC and ACSI, has sent an open letter to the chairman of the board of Salt, Marc Furrer, demanding the company avoid charging high roaming tariffs. The associations explained that Salt's customers who buy a data package to surf in EU countries pay around CHF 1 for 100 MB. Salt lifts revenues, mobile postpaid customers in Q1

Swiss operator Salt said revenues rose by 2.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter to CHF 251.2 million, mainly driven by underlying growth of the customer base. Operating revenues lifted by 1.6 percent to CHF 227.9 million. Equipment revenues jumped by 12.1 percent to CHF 23.3 million.

Swisscom, Sunrise UPC win legal battle over 5G moratorium in Geneva

The constitutional chamber of the canton of Geneva has repealed the cantonal law imposing a moratorium on the expansion of 5G mobile networks, business news agency awp Finanznachrichten reports. The court found the law to be contrary to higher law. The parliament of the canton of Geneva, the Grand Council, passed the law in 2020, and Swisscom, Sunrise and UPC appealed against the 5G moratorium, Le Temps reported.

Swiss operator Salt has introduced a PlayStation Gaming package for new customers including a PlayStation 5 console and a two-year subscription to PlayStation Plus. The package costs CHF 639. Salt launches mobile offer in partnership with WWF

Swiss operator Salt said it has launched a mobile offer in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). WWF Swiss is a mobile subscription that costs CHF 39.95 instead of CHF 59.95 for the usual Salt 'Swiss' tariff. It includes unlimited internet, calls, texts and MMS in Switzerland. It also provides 500 MB and 60 minutes per month and unlimited texts and MMS in Europe and the US.
