Samsung, Apple to launch payment services in Russia this yr

Samsung and Apple plan to launch their payment system in Russia by the end of the year, reports Vedomosti. The companies are currently in talks with Russian banks and payment systems. The Samsung Pay system is expected to launch at the end of September, with Apple Pay coming a bit later.

Both services will be supported by Alfa-Bank, Otkrytiye and VTB banks. Sberbank, Raiffeissenbank, Yandex.Money, Tinkoff and Binbank plan to conclude partnership agreements with Apple Pay.

At an initial stage, both systems will accept MasterCard bank cards only. Visa plans to introduce its own solution after 3-4 months.

MTS and MTS Bank offer access to Apple Pay system

Russian mobile operator MTS and its subsidiary MTS Bank are offering customers access to the Apple Pay contactless payment system, reports Cnews.ru. The Apply Pay service is available by using 'MTS Money Deposit MasterCard', MasterCard Standard, MasterCard Gold, MasterCard Platinum and certain other cards issued by MTS Bank. The cards should be registered with Apple Pay. Payment services can be used with iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and more recent iPhone models.

Yandex.Money connects to Apple Pay

Russian internet search engine Yandex announced that its Yandex.Money payment system has connected its conventional and virtual payment cards to the contactless payment system Apple Pay. Apple Pay started in Russia on 4 October. Users of the Yandex.Money payment system need to attach their cards to the Apple Wallet or Yandex.Money mobile applications for iOS-based devices. Yandex.Money also works with the Samsung Pay system.

Apple Pay starts testing in Russia

Staff of several Russian banks and retailers are testing the Apple Pay payment system ahead of its launch in Russia, reports Tdaily.ru. The testing includes the staff of banks Sberbank, Russian Standard, Binbank and Alfa-Bank, as well as retail chains Diksi, Victoria and M.Video. It is expected that the launch of Apple Pay will take place in Russia in early October. The service enables iPhone users to pay for services and goods using their smartphones.
