Samsung expects to sell 30 million mobile phones during the second half of 2003, up from the 25 million the company already sold globally in the first half of 2003, Sang Jin Park, global head of Samsung's wireless terminals business, said in an interview with Reuters. In addition he stated that with growing volumes and a focus on advanced new models commanding higher prices, operating margins will rise sharply. Furthermore, he expects Samsung's (operating) profit margin will rise in the second half to 20 to 25 percent. He forecasts sales volume is to reach about 55 million units during the whole of 2003. Samsung will launch several new wireless devices in the US.
