Samsung launches LTE-A Galaxy S5 in Korea
Samsung is launching a LTE-A version of the Galaxy S5 smartphone in its home market Korea. Samsung claims the Galaxy S5 Broadband LTE-A is the first Cat 6 phone available commercially in the world, supporting speeds up to 225 Mbps. It comes with a 5.1-inch Super Amoled screen with 2,560x1,440 resolution, increased RAM of 3GB, Android 4.4, a 16-megapixel rear camera and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 805 processor. 

The LTE-A version will launch this summer in Korea in a choice of black, white, blue, gold, pink and red. SK Telecom will have the exclusive on the red version. The operator will offer the new Samsung device as part of the launch of its faster LTE service, at up to 225 Mbps.

South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom has commercially launched a LTE-Advanced service enabling speeds of up to 225 Mbps, Cnet reports. Nokia, SK reach 3.78 Gbps with TDD-FDD carrier aggregation

Nokia and South Korean operator SK Telecom have reached close to 4 Gbps using TDD-FDD carrier aggregation. By aggregating 10 spectrum frequencies allocated for both LTE variants for a 200 MHz of bandwidth, Nokia and SK Telecom reached a throughput speed of 3.78 Gbps. The throughput was achieved with Nokia's Single RAN service, including the Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station, enhanced with software to aggregate carriers on both TDD and FDD LTE spectrum and to implement LTE-Advanced MIMO technology.

SK Telecom cuts Samsung Galaxy S4 price

South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom has launched a 40 percent discount on Samsung's Galaxy S4 Active smartphone, the Wall Street Journal report. With the discount, the Galaxy S4 Active is now being offered for KRW 528,000 without a contract, down compared to the previous price of KRW 899,800. Samsung sells 7,000 Galaxy S5 per day in home market

Samsung has sold an average of 7,000 Galaxy S5 smartphones per day in its home market, since the device launched on 27 March, Yonhap News reported. The predecessor Galaxy S4 sold around 8,000 units per day, while the the S4 LTE-A sold 10,000 units per day. SK Telecom launches Samsung Galaxy S5 early

Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom has introduced the Samsung Galaxy S5 for KRW 866,800. The operator discounts the handset to as low as KRW 660,000 for long-term subscribers, Yonhap writes.
