Samsung postpones Tizen smartphone launch
Samsung has delayed the launch of its first Tizen smartphone, originally scheduled to go on sale in Russia in Q3. In a brief statement, Samsung said that it was postponing the launch of the Samsung Z, the Wall Street Journal reports. The company cited a need to "further enhance [the] Tizen ecosystem," a reference to an apparent shortage of apps for the new platform. The company didn't offer specifics on any future plans for the operating system, or on the timing of any coming Tizen smartphone launches. 

In June, Samsung showed a prototype of the phone and announced the launch date for Q3. However, it failed to present the commercial device at a developers' conference for Tizen in Moscow earlier this month.

Samsung presents Tizen Z1 phone in India

Samsung has presented its first smartphone running Tizen at a meeting in India. The Z1 is expected to launch in India 18 January for a price equivalent to around EUR 75. The phone features a 4-inch screen, 1.2 GHz processor and 3 megapixel rear camera with flash. Tizen 2.3 includes a number of apps, including Nokia's navigation service Here, which can also be used offline. Samsung has delayed the launch of a Tizen phone several times, but earlier released a smartwatch running the OS.

Samsung delays Tizen smartphone launch again

Samsung has again postponed the launch of its first smartphone running the Tizen operating system, reported Korea's Chosun Ilbo. The phone was to be launched this week in India. Earlier the reported launch with Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo and in Russia were also canceled at the last minute. Samsung said it did not want to rush a product to market for fear it would not meet consumer expectations. The company earlier launched a smartwatch running Tizen.

Samsung Electronics has canceled the planned launch of its first Tizen smartphone at a developers event in Moscow.
