Samsung to unveil Galaxy Note 8 in NY in August - report

Samsung Electronics will showcase its Galaxy Note 8 phablet in New York in August, Yonhap news agency reports, citing unnamed industry sources. According to the same sources, Samsung plans to launch its Galaxy Note 8 device in the third or fourth week of August. The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, as well as the voice assistant Bixby.

In July, Samsung plans to release the refurbished Galaxy Note 7, with a safe battery. The device will be on sale for KRW 700,000 (approximately USD 615).

Samsung to launch refurbished Galaxy Note 7 in July - report

Samsung Electronics plans to release a refurbished edition of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone in July, Yonhap news agency reports, citing unnamed industry sources. According to these sources, Samsung will release the smartphone under the name the Galaxy Note FE. Starting 7 July, the device will be available for a price below KRW 700,000 (approximately USD 616). The refurbished devices will have a smaller battery capacity than the original smartphones, as well as software updates.

Samsung's S8 will also have a Sony battery - report

Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, will have Sony as third battery supplier, in a bid to avoid the battery problems that forced it to recall its Note 7, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Samsung will use lithium-ion battery packs from Sony, in addition to batteries from its two longtime suppliers, namely Samsung SDI and Hong Kong-based Amperex Technology, part of the TDK group. Both suppliers have been informed of the move.
