
SBC wins Happy State Bank VPN contract

SBC Communications announced a new contract with Happy State Bank, a Texas-based bank providing personal and commercial banking services to 13 locations in 10 different cities throughout Texas and one in Arizona.
Under the terms of the three-year contract, SBC companies will provide SBC PremierSERVSM Network-Based Virtual Private Network (NVPN), utilizing Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, to connect all 13 locations for added security and improved communication throughout the Happy State Bank network.
The IP-based service will allow Happy State Bank to utilize advanced applications such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet Protocol (IP) Video in the future.
"We wanted to upgrade to a fully meshed, IP-based network to improve the ease of maintenance and to increase productivity among our staff across our various locations," said Jason James, vice president of Happy State Bank. "SBC companies will provide us with a network solution that meets our needs and that allows for even greater expansion in the future."
