
SBC, Yahoo launch online music service

SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE: SBC) and Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) today announced the availability of the groundbreaking Yahoo! Music Unlimited service to SBC Yahoo! DSL customers. SBC Yahoo!(R) Music Unlimited provides music fans with virtually unlimited music downloads at only $4.99 per month for an annual subscription or $6.99 on a monthly basis.
The service also allows users to play tunes from a catalog of more than one million songs, transfer tracks to portable devices, as well as enjoy the unique ability to share and discover music with friends through SBC Yahoo! Messenger. SBC Yahoo! Music Unlimited enables subscribers to build personalized music libraries, purchase discounted downloads, listen to commercial-free Internet radio stations and access their subscription service from any Internet-connected computer.
The music unlimited service includes a free music management application which allows users to rip, mix and burn CDs, import and manage music and transfer music to portable audio devices. In addition, songs in the large music library are encoded in the highest audio quality. SBC Yahoo! customers will continue to enjoy a premium version of LAUNCHcast Internet radio that offers more than 150 pre-programmed stations, no commercial interruptions, unlimited song skipping, premium audio quality and exclusive genre and artist stations.
SBC Yahoo! Music Unlimited is available for an introductory annual fee of $59.88 or monthly subscription of $6.99. The service also provides access to a music download store, allowing users to purchase and download songs for $0.99 per track. Subscribers to SBC Yahoo! Music Unlimited are offered downloads at a discounted rate of $0.79 per song.
