Serbian Capital Investments Minister Velimir Ilic has announced that businessman Bogoljub Karic is no longer the owner of mobile phone operator Mobtel, since a consortium of Austrian investors has purchased the BK Trade Group (the co-owner of Mobtel together with PTT Srbije) from him. Ilic said that he has received photocopies of documentation from the Austrian investors which verify their purchase, although he said that the document is being checked out by legal experts just in case. Ilic has also asked to see the original documents as well. “Mobtel is one BK Trade’s companies, and all companies of BK Trade have been sold, which includes Mobtel. Karic is not in the country currently and his people have not given us any information, but the Austrians have provided documentation which will be reviewed.” Ilic said. However, PTT Srbije, who are the public representatives of the Mobtel company, claim that the Austrian investors did not purchase BK Trade, rather BK Trade from Moscow, Karic’s second company, which does not include the Mobtel company.
