SFR launches Home 3G femtocell
French mobile and fixed operator SFR has launched the country's first femtocell offer, SFR Home 3G. The femtocell connects to the customer's fixed-line broadband gateway, regardless of ISP, to deliver optimal 3G and 3G+ connectivity for up to five SFR mobile phone users within the home. SFR will sell the device in stores, over the phone and online for EUR 199.

Free Mobile to offer customers free femtocells

French triple-play operator and mobile licence holder Free will offer mobile customers free femtocells when it launches service in January 2012, company founder Xavier Niel told subscribers. The devices that improve 3G mobile reception within the home by connecting directly to the wired IP network modem are currently sold by mobile operator SFR for EUR 99 to subscribers who require them.
