SFR to launch mobile plans with Spotify music - report
French mobile and broadband operator SFR will launch mobile service plans that include access to Spotify's music streaming service from 15 June, according to local press reports. The "Carre Connect Spotify" subscription with 2 hours of monthly calls will cost EUR 34 a month on a two-year contract, and EUR 5 less if customers keep their current handset. The same plan with 3 hours of calls will cost EUR 44 a month with a handset and EUR 39 without one. With "Carre Web Spotify" customers will pay EUR 54 a month with 2 hours of calls and a new phone, or EUR 42 for the service only. Additionally, SFR will introduce the "Spotify Premium" option for EUR 10 a month, which customers can add to some of the existing service plans. Les Echos reported in January that SFR was in tie-up talks with Spotify at the Midem music congress. The done deal enables SFR to compete with Orange France in the streaming music space, after its larger rival introduced the Deezer Premium service on its Open quad-play subscriptions last October.
