SFR uses Kabira provisioning system
Kabira Technologies, provider of the Infrastructure Switch software for high-volume, real-time transactions, announced that the leading private mobile operator in France, SFR, will use Kabira's Provisioning and Service Activation system (KPSA), to be SFR's new internal provisioning system to support and manage the mobile services' customer base of more than 13.5 million subscribers. Accenture will be responsible for the overall transformation of SFR's IT systems. By mid 2005, all SFR's network equipment and service platforms are planned to be activated through the Kabira convergent provisioning system. KPSA will enable support of various services such as voice, data, GPRS and support the future implementation of UMTS for prepaid, postpaid and corporate users. "The unique expertise gathered by Accenture and Kabira in responding to the challenges of provisioning for mobile operators with multi-million subscriber bases, plus the real-time high-volume processing of our infrastructure, offers a complete answer to the performance issue at the heart of this project," said Serge Dugas,Vice-President Southern and Central Europe, Kabira Technologies. "This project confirms once again Kabira's leading position in the French market for operational support systems." The project will see SFR smoothly and gradually transitioning the current in-house developed provisioning application to the new Kabira system. This is made possible by a unique feature of KPSA's high-level service provisioning layer, which enables cascading of other pre-existing activation and/or network element management systems. "We are really pleased that our KPSA solutions were selected to be SFR's new internal provisioning system," said Frederic Aries, Vice-President International, Kabira Technologies. "The strength of our system not only resides in its ability to handle high-volume transactions, but also to address millions of subscribers with near real-time constraints for all type of provisioning streams, from mass activation to highly unpredictable self-care requests to be issued by new GPRS and UMTS users. Our achievements in the mobile telecommunications sector are a tribute to the enormous capabilities of our KPSA solution."
