Sierra Wireless has been forced to halt production and withdraw its financial guidance after its internal IT systems were hit by a ransomware attack on 20 March. The company said customer-facing systems are kept separate and were not affected by the attack.
After learning of the attack, the company's IT and operations teams established cybersecurity procedures developed in collaboration with third-party advisors. They believe they have addressed the attack and are working to bring Sierra Wireless’ internal IT systems back online.
As a result of the ransomware attack, Sierra Wireless halted production at its manufacturing sites. The company’s website and other internal operations have also been disrupted. The company said it expects to restart production and resume normal operations "soon". In the meantime, it asked customers and partners for patience as it seeks to remediate the situation.
Due to these disruptions, Sierra Wireless is withdrawing its Q1 guidance provided in February.
