Sigfox appoints Franck Siegel as Chief Delivery Officer

IoT network operator Sigfox announced the appointment of Franck Siegel to the role of Chief Delivery Officer and member of the executive committee, reporting directly to the company’s CEO, Ludovic Le Moan. Siegel will lead the teams responsible for marketing, engineering, operations, IT, security, and human resources. He will also be in charge of a new unit, named Corporate Programme Management Office, on which he has been working since joining Sigfox in October 2017.

Siegel’s previous experience includes several senior positions at NTT subsidiary Dimension Data, where his most recent role was director of Strategic Services for Europe.

Announcing the appointment, Sigfox said that Siegel will work to support the company’s ambitious goals for 2018. The operator’s network aims to increase its presence to over 60 countries by end of the year and connect up to 10 million devices, from more than 2.5 million active in 2017.

Sigfox grows US IoT network coverage by 50% in 2017

Sigfox USA, the North America network operator for the global Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) connectivity provider Sigfox, announced that in 2017 it achieved over a 50 percent increase in coverage coupled with a 45 percent increase in its partner ecosystem. Around two years after entering the market, Sigfox USA now has coverage in 24 out of the 25 top metropolitan markets including 25 percent of the United States population.

Sigfox reports revenues of EUR 50 mln for 2017, opens Hacking House project for students

Sigfox said that its revenues grew by 56 percent year-on-year to reach EUR 50 million in 2017. The number of objects connected to its IoT network rose by 65 percent in the same period to 2.5 million, and the company targets 6 million in 2018. The operator's footprint expanded to 45 countries earlier this month, with a goal to reach 60 by the end of the year. Sigfox partners with Senioradom to deploy telecare service in Chengdu

French telecare specialist Senioradom will use Sigfox's IoT network to deploy a new service aimed at protecting elderly residents in the Chinese city of Chengdu. Starting this year, a 12-month pilot will trial the service with 1,500 participants. The two companies said that the Chengdu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has committed an investment of almost EUR 300 million to extend the project to twenty Chinese cities.

Sigfox loses president of North America operations

Sigfox confirmed that the executive at the helm of its North America operations, Allen Proithis, is no longer with the company, reports FierceWireless. In the role of president, Proithis had been leading the expansion of Sigfox's IoT network in North America since September 2015. Parting ways with Proithis was a "strategic decision" taken in October 2017, said the company, adding that a 40-percent population coverage target for the region – set for 2017 – had been missed due to a change in priorities.

Sigfox loses chief information officer Burriez – report

Sigfox's chief information officer, Jerome Burriez, is the latest senior executive to leave the IoT network operator, reports LightReading quoting two unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter. If confirmed, the news about Burriez would increase speculation about the management of the company, following a string of resignations triggered by the departure of deputy CEO Xavier Drilhon in March 2017.
