
SingTel Group's Q2 profit, revenues fall

SingTel Group saw its net profit fall 1.6 percent to SGD 868 million in the second quarter ended 30 September, compared with SGD 882 million a year earlier, while underlying net profit (excluding exceptional items) was stable at SGD 886 million. Group revenues slipped 0.8 percent to SGD 4.57 billion from SGD 4.61 billion a year earlier. However, EBITDA grew 1.4 percent to SGD 1.27 billion and EBITDA margin improved to 27.7 percent from 27.1 percent in the year-ago quarter. SingTel Group and its regional mobile associates continued to register strong customer growth in the quarter. As at 30 September, the group had a total mobile customer base of 468 million, an increase of 44.4 million or 11 percent from a year ago. For the financial year ending 31 March, SingTel expects consolidated revenues to decline by low single digit level and EBITDA to remain stable.
