SK Telecom attains 500,000 LTE subscribers
Korean operator SK Telecom has reached 500,000 LTE mobile subscribers in about five months, writes Yonhap News Agency. In July, SK Telecom kicked off the LTE network in Seoul, offering faster mobile data for data-hungry smartphone users. Around 35 percent of the smartphone users at SK Telecom select smartphones that are compliant with the LTE service, even though SK Telecom does not offer an unlimited mobile data plan on the LTE network. SK Telecom plans to expand the LTE service to 84 cities in South Korea by April.

SK Telecom launches Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE

Korean communications provider SK Telecom has begun selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE on 13 December. With the launch of the new tablet, SK Telecom says it has completed its full line-up of LTE devices, the Korea Herald writes. The operator is offering the 16 GB model for KRW 760,000 and the 32 GB version for KRW 837,000.

SK to speed up LTE roll-out

Korea's SK Telecom is speeding up the expansion of its LTE network, with plans to launch the service in 84 cities by April 2012, eight months earlier than originally planned.
