
SK Telecom increases capex budget to meet mobile data demand

South Korean operator SK Telecom has raised its capital spending plan for this year by 15 percent to KRW 2.3 trillion to handle the data explosion stemming from smartphones and tablet PCs. The additional investment will be used to upgrade its 3G and LTE networks to offer data services. SK said this year will be the largest capex in its history, as well as the highest capex to sales ratio, at an estimated 17.3 percent.
