SK Telecom made what it calls the first live broadcast of the annual Bosingak bell-ringing New Year's Eve event using a 5G commercial network on 1 January. The 11-minute broadcast was filmed with a smartphone connected to a 5G mobile router and broadcast to viewers through a 5G base station and a transmission system in Sangam-dong, Seoul. It included the New Year countdown, the bell-ringing event and interviews.
SK Telecom said it's planning to increase the quality of the live broadcasting app ‘T Live Caster’ by the end of 2019, and will push to connect individual broadcasting platforms with its network.
Furthermore, the company is planning to enter the market for drone broadcasting using its 5G network.
