SK Telecom to open app store in China, Japan
Korean telecommunications provider SK Telecom plans to aggressively enter overseas markets with its app store. The company will open its T-Store in China in July on China Mobile's Mobile Market, The Korea Herald reports citing company officials. SK Telecom has also signed an agreement with China Mobile to collaborate on promoting mobile content exchanges. "SKT's partnership with China Mobile will become an opportunity to accelerate global expansion of the T-Store platform," Lee Joo-sik, executive vice president and head of the new app store business division at the company, said. Additionally, the company will enter Japan in September with the launch of a localised version of the T-Store, tentatively dubbed 'J-Store'. SK Telecom is in talks with Japanese handset makers and content providers for marketing and operating the J-Store.
