SKT, KTF to unlock handsets
Both SK Telecom and KTF plan to unlock their services so subscribers can more easily change handsets, the Chosun Ilbo writes. KTF president Cho Young-chu said it will stop the lock-in of its handsets from March and rival SK Telecom will stop locking-in subscribers' handsets for the 3G service T Live from 27 March. Initially, it will only be possible to swap SIM cards into handsets that are linked to the same provider. In the second half of this year it will also be possible to use the SIM cards in other operators' handsets. KTF also announced it will cut roaming fees with China by up to 70 percent in a partnership with China Mobile. A similar partnership is in the works with NTT DoCoMo which will see roaming fees in Japan fall.
