Skype suffers service disruption

Skype suffered a major outage of its service on 22-23 December. Users around the world reported problems signing on to the VoIP service. Skype said in a blog posting that a problem in one of the versions of its software caused several supernodes used to connect users to go offline. Skype said its engineers were creating new 'mega-supernodes', which should gradually return things to normal. The company apologised for the disruption to conversations and said it hoped to have services back online within hours.
