Slovak regulator proposes 42 percent lower MTRs from July
Slovak regulator TUSR issued a decision on mobile termination rates (MTR) to be applied from 1 July 2012 until 31 May 2013. All three mobile operators (Orange Slovakia, T-Mobile Slovakia and Telefonica Slovakia) will be subject to a maximum call termination rate of EUR 0.0318 per minute, down from the current maximum price of EUR 0.0551 per minute. The decision is not final yet, as the operators may appeal within fifteen days. TUSR annually sets maximum rates based on an average of the termination rates in those EU countries which apply LRIC (long-run incremental costing) methodology. Since 2009 TUSR has reduced MTR three times. As a result, current prices are about 45 percent lower than unregulated prices in 2009.
