
The operator migrated the services to the technology MSAN and VoBB. The main advantage is cost savings and increasing the potential of broadband services. Slovak Telekom significantly decreased the number and size of network devices necessary for operation of voice services and the complexity of the topology, by removing 25 percent of various access and transmission technologies and more than 33 percent of network elements. During the migration to IP, the operator removed more than 800 tonnes of material from PSTN bases, switched off 51 local stations as well as the whole SDH and ATM networks and 6,500 network elements.
