Smartphone sales dip another 0.4% in Q4, iPhones return to growth

Worldwide sales of smartphones contracted another 0.4 percent year on year in the fourth quarter of 2019, the same as Q3, with full year sales declining by 1.0 percent, according to the latest data from Gartner. Apple and Xiaomi were the only vendors in the top five to achieve growth in the final 3 months of the year, with Apple closing in on Samsung's 17.3 percent market share with 17.1 percent of the market after four straight quarters of decline. Total iPhone sales were up 7.8 percent in the fourth quarter to 69.55 million due above all to a slight lowering of the prices of the iPhone 11
