Snap names new CFO, chief people officer
Snap has named a new CFO, and created the new role of chief people officer. The appointments close a chapter that saw Snap lose a number of executives in a short period of time, including CFO Tim Stone, CFO Drew Vollero, VP for sales Jeff Lucas and others. 

Derek Andersen, currently Snap’s VP of finance will take as CFO from interim CFO Lara Sweet. Meanwhile, Sweet will become the company’s chief people officer. In this new position, Sweet will manage global talent acquisition, its management strategies and processes, human resource functions and overall team experience. Both Andersen and Sweet will report to CEO Evan Spiegel and take up their new places immediately. Sweet, who was the chief accounting officer until named interim CFO, will continue in this position as well, until a replacement is named. 

Before joining Snap in 2018, Andersen previously worked at Amazon and at Fox Interactive Media. Sweet has been at Snap since 2016. Before that, she was at AOL, Freddie Mac and Marriott International.

Snap, the company behind the popular app Snapchat, reported better-than-expected results for the second quarter, with record growth in user numbers. It added 13 million new users in the quarter for a total of 203 million at the end of June.

Snap has hired Oona King, the former director at Google of its diversity strategy, to be the company's first head of diversity and inclusion, TechCrunch reported, citing a company memo from chief people officer Lara Sweet.

Snap names interim CFO, mulls changes to app

Snap has appointed Lara Sweet its new interim CFO and principal financial officer. Sweet was previously the company's chief accounting officer. She will report to CEO Evan Spiegel. Meanwhile, the company has started searching for a permanent CFO. Sweet's appointment will follow the departure of Tim Stone on 5 February. He was the sucessor of Drew Vollero in May 2018. Snap also lost its head of content last year.

Snap to lose CFO Stone

Snap will be losing its second CFO, according to filings sent to the SEC. CFO Tim Stone, who succeeded Drew Vollero in May 2018, will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Stone said in the documents that his departure is not related to any disagreements with the company or any matter relating to accounting, strategy, management, operations, policies, regulatory matters or practices. No last day has yet been determined.

Snap takes executive from Amazon to succeed CFO Vollero from 15 May

Stone has been at Amazon since 1998, working in a number of roles, including VP of finance and VP of physical stores. He's also been overseeing the integration of Whole Foods. Snap said Vollero will remain a non-employee adviser through 15 August to ensure an effective transition.

Snap loses sales head

Snap has lost its VP for sales Jeff Lucas, Cheddar reported. Lucas, a former ad sales chief at Viacom, is leaving Snap after less than two years. He was tasked there with leading the ad sales organization during the rollout of its programmatic ad system, which accounted for more than 90% of the company's sales in the last quarter.
