Softbank, Alibaba launch cloud jv for Japan

Alibaba and SoftBank have started a joint venture that will bring Alibaba Cloud cloud computing services to Japan. The new SB Cloud will open a new data centre in Japan and provide cloud computing services aimed at the Japanese market, for clients ranging from startups to multinational companies.

The joint venture will enable Alibaba Cloud to further expand its cloud computing service platform with SoftBank’s business customer base in Japan. SB Cloud services will include data storage and processing services, enterprise-level middleware as well as cloud security services.

The SoftBank Group is a major shareholder of the Alibaba Group.
