
Japanese operator Softbank reported net profit for the fiscal year to March 2014 up 32.1 percent to JPY 763.6 billion. Revenues jumped by 30.1 percent to JPY 8.670 trillion, while operating profit declined by 8.8 percent to JPY 982.7 billion. Net sales growth was mainly boosted by the mobile communications segment and the Sprint unit in the US.
In the Japan mobile market, Softbank increased annual sales 32.3 percent to JPY 4.189 trillion, and operating profit rose 14.8 percent to JPY 695.2 billion. The increase was mainly due to growing net sales of Brightstar, Supercell, and Softbank Mobile. The cumulative number of subscribers at Softbank Mobile at 31 March was 37.7 million. Net subscriber additions for the fiscal year totaled 1.8 million. ARPU decreased by JPY 220 year-on-year to JPY 4,230 at 31 March 2015.
In the fixed market, Softbank net sales declined by 1.3 percent to JPY 541 billion. The decline was mainly due to decreasing ADSL service revenue at Ymobile and a decrease in net sales at SoftBank Telecom. Operating profit was down 7.4 percent to JPY 100 billion. Internet sales were up 4.8 percent to JPY 419.1 billion, and operating profit slightly declined by 1 percent to JPY 187 billion.
