Softbank hires banks for December mobile listing - report

SoftBank has picked banks including Nomura and Goldman Sachs as lead underwriters for the initial public offering of its Japanese mobile business, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. They will help the company sell about JPY 3 trillion (USD 27 billion) of shares. Marketing of the shares is expected to start next month ahead of a listing in December, the report said.

Softbank profits surge on investments, telco business shows steady growth

Softbank reported another surge in net profit for its fiscal first half to September, with the result jumping 719 percent to JPY 840.1 billion from JPY 102.6 billion a year ago. The growth was driven by gains on its investment portfolio, while revenues rose a more modest 6 percent year-on-year to JPY 4.65 trillion. Operating profit was up 62 percent to JPY 1.42 trillion, supported by improvement at Sprint.

Softbank to raise USD 30 bln in IPO of Japan mobile business - report

Softbank may target a valuation of USD 90 billion for its Japanese mobile business when it lists the company on the stock market, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Softbank is considering selling a third of the company, raising around USD 30 billion for its investments, the report said.

Softbank quarterly profit jumps on investment gains

Softbank saw its net profit jump to JPY 313.7 billion in the fiscal first quarter to June from JPY 5.5 billion a year earlier, thanks largely to gains on its investments in companies such as Flipkart and WeWork and the spin-off of ARM's Chinese business. Net sales rose 4 percent to JPY 2.273 trillion, and adjusted EBITDA was up 3 percent to JPY 721.8 billion.

SoftBank files for telecoms IPO in Japan

SoftBank Group announced that it has made a preliminary application to list shares in its unit Softbank Corp (SB) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. As announced in February, the company plans to separate its Japanese telecom business with the IPO, so the group can focus exclusively on its technology investments.

Softbank preparing IPO with Nomura, looks to raise JPY 2 tln - report

SoftBank is preparing the initial public offering of its mobile phone unit with Nomura, Bloomberg reported, saying the company is looking to raise over JPY 2 trillion (USD 19 billion). While no official mandates have been assigned, Nomura is advising the company on matters such as its strategy for distributing the shares, corporate governance and documentation needed to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
