SoftBank to discontinue Otoku Line copper service from 2030
SoftBank announced that after 31 March 2030, its "Otoku Line" fixed-line telephone service will be discontinued. From 31 March 2026, SoftBank will no longer accept new applications. The operator began providing Otoku Line in 2004 as a fixed-line telephone service that utilises the dry copper wires and dark fibres of NTT East and NTT West and the service has since been used by many customers.

SoftBank demonstrates software-only Massive MIMO on a GPU

SoftBank announced that it has successfully achieved radio signal processing using Massive MIMO and demonstrated 16-layer MU-MIMO (Multi‑User Multiple Input Multiple Output) downlink (DL) in an outdoor environment using its AI Radio Access Network (AI-RAN) product Aitras, installed at Nvidia's campus in Santa Clara, California. The demonstration was achieved by building an AI-RAN that executes radio signal processing entirely in software on Nvidia's graphics processing unit (GPU).
