Sony names new CEO at mobile handset business
Sony is installing a new CEO at its mobile phone business, after buying out partner Ericsson in the company. Kunimasa Suzuki will become the new president and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications, effective 16 May, and the current CEO Bert Nordberg will become chairman of the company. Suzuki was recently named head of all Sony's consumer products, with the aim of strengthening horizontal integration and enhancing the user experience across Sony's entire product line. Sony has named the mobile business one of its core electronics business areas, including smartphones, tablets and PCs. Suzuki will be based in Lund, Sweden and Tokyo, Japan. Yoshihisa (Bob) Ishida will continue to serve as deputy CEO and Kristian Tear will continue to serve as executive VP of sales and marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.
