Sony to expand PlayStation games for mobile phones
Sony Computer Entertainment announced an expansion in PlayStation games and services for mobile devices. From 03 October, the company will start delivering dedicated content for PlayStation certified mobile devices, through the PlayStation Store. In addition to its own mobile phones and the PS Vita, Sony has licensed HTC to offer PlayStation certified devices, and the company announced new agreements with Fujitsu and Sharp to develop phones supporting the PlayStation games.

The new mobile service will start with around 30 games available in nine countries (Japan, US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia). Access will cost between JPY 50 and JPY 850, and titles will be available both from Sony and third-party developers. Further content and more countries will follow in future.

The PlayStation Mobile Developer Program, which includes a PlayStation Mobile SDK, will be available in November for developers to create additional content. Developers pay USD 99 for an annual licence to the SDK and can market their games on the PlayStation Store.

The new mobile services were announced alongside the unveiling of the new PS3 games console. Featuring a smaller body and more storage, the device will launch worldwide from 25 September. Sony said it's also extending its PlayStation Plus loyalty scheme to the PS Vita from November.
