Spanish MVNO Cuatro Movil to launch on 14 October
Spanish broadcaster Sogecable, the owner of TV channel Cuatro, is launching an MVNO called Cuatro Movil on 14 October. Spanish press reports state that Dutch operator KPN, which owns the Simyo and Blau MVNO brands in Spain, will operate Cuatro Movil. The TV channel has posted the following pricing information about three plans on its website: the EUR 29.90 a month 'Fuera de Serie' tariff will give users 'unlimited' internet access and 500 minutes of calls, the EUR 19.90 'Express' tariff will offer internet access and 300 minutes of calls and the 'Revolution' pre-paid tariff will cost EUR 0.08 per minute for calls to any operator at any time of day, EUR 0.10 per SMS and EUR 0.03 per MB of data use. The phones on offer will include the Nokia X2, Acer Liquid E and Huawei U8110 for postpaid subscribers and the Nokia 2690 and Alcatel OT 255 for prepaid customers.

Spaanse omroep lanceert MVNO op KPN-netwerk

De Spaanse tv-omroep Sogecable, eigenaar van tv-kanaal Cuatro, lanceert een eigen MVNO onder de naam Cuatro Movil. Volgens bronnen in de Spaanse pers treedt KPN op als MVNE voor de nieuwe virtuele operator. KPN is al actief in Spanje met de mobiele merken Simyo en Blau.

KPN has appointed Fernando Reymundo as general director of its Spanish operations. Previously, Reymundo was CEO of Cisco Systems, Ola Internet and Tele2 Spain. Dutch operator KPN operates in Spain as a MVNO under the Simyo and Blau brand names.

KPN denies plans to close operations in Spain

Dutch operator KPN, which operates on the Spanish market under the Simyo brand name, has denied recent press reports claiming the company plans to close operations on the Spanish market. KPN says these reports are completely false and unfounded. At the end of this summer, Simyo will move to a larger office building on the outskirts of Madrid. In addition to Simyo, KPN also owns Spanish MVNOs Blau and Vueling Movil. Simyo currently serves 120,000 mobile customers across Spain.

Simyo launches promotions to celebrate first anniversary

KPN has launched its Blau mobile services brand in Spain. Already used in Germany, Blau follows KPN's launch of the Simyo brand in Spain earlier this year and a number of white-label deals in the country for MVNO services.
