Spotify brings Spotify Lite app to more markets
Spotify has put out a new version of Spotify Lite, its music streaming app aimed at people limited by data plans and slower networks, often in emerging markets, Bloomberg reported. The company launched a beta form of the app in India in May. Spotify hopes the wider launch will increase its penetration in markets outside of Europe and the US.

Spotify Lite takes up 10 MB instead of 30 MB and runs on Android phones. It has been released in 36 markets. An ad-supported service will be available for free while a premium version will cost the same as on its regular music-streaming platform.

Spotify growth stronger than expected in Q3, CFO to retire

Spotify reported better-than-expected results for the third quarter. Total monthly active users grew 30 percent year-on-year to 248 million, ahead of its guidance of 240-245 million, and the company raised its forecast for the year-end total to 255-270 million, an increase of 5 million from its previous range.

Spotify to test more expensive version in Nordic markets - report

Spotify plans to raise the price of its family plan by about 13 percent in Scandinavia, writes Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter. The action is a test whose aim is to see whether it can increase prices around the world. However, the move doesn't mean Spotify will raise prices elsewhere or do so permanently in Scandinavia, the people said. The company declined to comment.

Spotify Premium available free for more AT&T clients

Spotify and AT&T have announced an expanded agreement to offer some of the operator's mobile customers free access to the music streaming provider's premium ad-free service. Starting 06 August, AT&T Unlimited & More Premium customers can select a Spotify Premium subscription from one of 7 premium entertainment options, for no extra charge.

Spotify Lite comes to India

Spotify has launched Spotify Lite in India. The app is on Google Play, in beta form. The Android-only app is a lighter version of the streaming music app, taking up 10 MB instead of 30 MB, TechCrunch noted. The company had already tested the lighter app in a number of countries, including Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Mexico and Brazil. It is now available in 22 countries, including India.
