Sprint to pay USD 330 mln to settle tax case in New York

Sprint has agreed to pay USD 330 million to settle a False Claims Act lawsuit filed by the Attorney General of New York. The Office of the Attorney General alleged that Sprint failed to pay over USD 100 million in state and local taxes from customers for nearly a decade. The company has been in tax compliance since 2014, Endgadget reported. But before that, the Office of the Attorney said the company deliberately misinterpreted a 2002 law and that it filed false records and statements in order to reduce the price of its statements.
