
Square raises USD 100 mln for mobile payments

Mobile payments company Square has raised another USD 100 million, from a group of investors led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the company confirmed on Twitter. Started by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, Square is now valued at over USD 1 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. Mary Meeker, a Kleiner Perkins partner, will join Square's board as part of the new round. Previous investors in the company include Khosla Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Visa and JP Morgan Chase. Square last raised USD 27.5 million in January.
