Starlink plans to start broadband service in Greece in Q1 2021
SpaceX plans to make its Starlink broadband satellite internet service available in Greece in the first quarter of 2021, Kathimerini reports. The company reached out to the Hellenic Telecommunications and Posts Commission (EETT) and the Digital Governance Ministry in order to secure the necessary licence. SpaceX's satellite internet would provide 100 percent coverage with speeds of up to 150Mbps.

The valuation is a leap from August, when the company raised USD 1.9 billion at a valuation of USD 46 billion, but lower than reports talked about in December. The company raised the new funds at USD 419.99 per share. Company insiders and existing investors were able to sell an additional USD 750 million in a secondary transaction. Sources said demand was extremely high

The  Starlink website, used for signing up beta customers in the US, Canada, and the UK, will now direct users with South African addresses to a payment gateway. Previously, South Africans were presented with a message that informed them they would get updates via their provided email address when the service became available at their location.

Starlink satellite broadband beta service has over 10,000 users

Starlink Services has sent a filing to the FCC, asking for its Starlink satellite broadband services to receive the designation of "eligible telecommunications carrier." The company, controlled by SpaceX, said the designation is necessary for it to provide services under the Rural Digital Opportunities Fund (RDOF). In the filing, Starlink said it currently has 1,000 satellites in orbit, with a comprehensive ground network, and that its beta service has over 10,000 users.

SpaceX brings up 10 more Starlink satellites, among 143 spacecraft put into space

SpaceX announced by tweet that it launched 143 spacecraft on 24 January, including 10 Starlink satellites, and that this completed its first ever SmallSat Rideshare programme. The day broke the record for the most satellites put into space on a single launch. The company explained that its rideshare lets small satellites join its rockets for more affordable rides to orbit. The programme charges from USD 1 million for the first 485 pounds, The Verge reported.

SpaceX launches 60 new Starlink satellites to orbit

SpaceX launched a new batch of 60 Starlink satellites to orbit on 20 January at 8.02 am eastern standard time from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at the Kennedy Space Center, completing its seventeenth Starlink mission. Following first-stage separation, Falcon 9 successfully landed for the eighth time on the droneship called Just Read the Instructions, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Falcon 9's first stage booster rocket previously supported seven other missions.

Amazon completes testing prototype antenna for Kuiper customer terminal

Amazon said it completed testing its prototype antenna for its Kuiper customer terminal, a critical part of its Kuiper System which will deliver broadband through a constellation of 3,236 low Earth orbit satellites. The antenna passed all corresponding tests for speed and latency, offering maximum throughput of up to 400 Mbps, and streaming 4K-quality video from a geostationary satellite at an altitude approximately 50 times farther from Earth than where Project Kuiper satellites will be deployed.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket carried a new full stack of 60 Starlink internet satellites into orbit and successfully landed on a SpaceX drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean, writes Space.com. The first-stage booster featured in the flight, known as B1049, has completed seven launches and landings to date, the highest reached by a Falcon 9 booster.
