Sud Presse, Base to launch mobile services in 2009

Belgian newspaper publisher Groupe Sud Presse and mobile operator Base have inked a partnership deal which will see the regional newspapers of Groupe Rossel launching their own mobile phone brand as of 2009. According to Didier Hamann, Sud Presse Group's director-general, this new service will help the publisher to further its strategy of making available local and regional information to the public at large across different media platforms at any time of the day: paper, web and now mobile phone. As of 2009, Sud Presse will be running mobile phone services under its own name brand. Its mobile offering will be available both in the form of prepaid cards and regular subscriptions. The offering will include the full range of services on offer from BASE. Sud Presse publishes several newspaper titles in the Walloon and Brussels Regions, such as La Meuse, La Nouvelle Gazette, La Province, Nord Eclair and La Capitale.
